My "Thieveffer" Mop

Every night after dinner the 2 oldest children clean the floors in the Kitchen and the Breakfast Nook where we eat. For years now that has consisted of Swiffer wet pads being used every night, at least 3 but sometimes more. When I started on my Young Living Journey one of my first Essential Reward purchases was the Thieves Household Cleaner. I used it for general cleaning around the house and when we traveled, I can mop my whole house with one capful. One night it finally dawned on me how much money we were wasting on Swiffer's when one capful of Thieves cleaned the whole house.

But I was not ready for my kids to be getting out the big mop and bucket every night to clean just 2 rooms just yet. I saved a container that the Swiffer wet refills come in and I added 1/2 a capful of Thieves Household Cleaner to half of the container filled with water. After mixing it around I grabbed all the rags around the house that were 10x10 or bigger and added them to the container.

After a month of the switch I can honestly say I'm glad I made the switch. The floor gets just as clean as it did with the 3 Swiffer wet sheets we use to use every night, thieves smells like gingerbread so my house smells yummy and we are not throwing money in the trash can every night. I would purchase the Swiffer pads at our Wholesale store at a cost of $15.47 for 60, so .26 cents for each sheet. My kids used 3 sheets every night for the 2 rooms, so one night was costing us .78 cents and when  we were done those went in the trashcan to go clog up our landfill. Thieves Household Cleaner cost me $22.00 Wholesale, so approx .64 cents a capful, its concentrated so a little goes along way. I only use 1/2 a capful so lets say .32 cents for one of my swiffer containers filled halfway with water, I usually add 12 rags to the container, sometimes more. So 12 rags of my cleaner ( 3 rags used each night for 4 nights )  cost me .32 cents, the floors get cleaned and nothing gets thrown in the trash ( I put them in our normal wash ) compared to $3.12 for the 4 nights of Swiffer wet pads that get thrown in the trash when we are done.

Think about it this way, old way cost us $23.40 a month and the new way cost us $2.40 a month. I think I'll stick with the Thieves Household Cleaner.

I Got Balls..........

Dryer balls that is .....LOL.
Continuing my quest to make my home as healthy as possible I purchased some dryer balls. You put the 3 dryer balls in the dryer with your clothes and turn it on just like normal. Dryer balls soften clothes naturally, reduces drying time by 25%, helps eliminate wrinkles, reduce static cling and saves energy. Best of all,  you can put Young Living Essential oils on the balls and your laundry will smell how you want it to.

I am so excited to get rid of dryer sheets, not only am I saving money but I'm helping the environment...win win.

You can make your own dryer balls ( tutorials are on YouTube ), Etsy has tons of sellers of homemade dryer balls and of course Amazon. I purchased mine from Norwex and they are guaranteed  for 1000 loads.

Do you have some Balls? Let me know what your favorite essential oils are to add to them. Don't forget we are still doing the $20 Voucher Giveaway .

Full Disclosure Notice: My Sister in law, Jennifer sells Norwex and the link is her site. I paid full price for my Dryer Balls and I would not feature Norwex's product if I did not believe it was a good product. I received no compensation from either one and all opinions are my own.

Kim

Disney Red Rash AKA Golfer’s Vasculitis

We went to Disney in May and low and behold I got the "Red Rash" again all over my ankles. I have always attributed it to the endless walking you do in the heat at Disney. When we returned this time I decided to Google the term Disney red leg rash and came up with tons of sites.....we should have our own club...LOL.

It seems the "rash" is actually a form of sun burn caused by the sun reflecting off the black asphalt. People who wear socks or long pants or have sun screened their legs up don't suffer as much. One image and another image of what it looks like ...of course mine is worse. We are headed to Universal Studios near the end of the month so with my love of everything Young Living Essential Oils I'm hoping to avoid it ( if not I'll get a good picture for the blog ).

First I'm going to use Sherri's Bug Repellant/Sun Screen ( I make the spray one ) and if I do happen to get the rash I hope to stop it dead in its tracks with some Healing Young Living Essential Oil's Lavender.

Remember I'm not a doctor, I just do whats best for me and my family and hope it helps you along the way.

Peace and Love,

Kim

Keratosis Pilaris AKA Chicken Skin

Ah Yes, the dreaded chicken skin ....if you are lucky enough to not have it you know someone who does. My lovely KP has been with been as long as I can remember ....... my upper arms and thighs. I did everything and anything to get rid of it ...exfoliated, acids, lotions, scrubs, etc....nothing worked. Lately to keep it under control I have been using this.......
at a cost of $47.00. This container would usually last about 2 months and it was ok but did not completely get rid of the Chicken Skin. I was thrilled to see Sherri get asked about Keratosis Pilaris on her Facebook page  and she sent us to Stuff Parents Need .....Awesome.

I did not follow the recipe exactly....I just eyeballed everything. I like mine a little more "drier" so I use more sugar and less coconut oil. I also used Young Living Stress Away instead of Lavender. Young Living Stress Away has Copaiba, Lime, Cedarwood, Vanilla, Ocotea, Lavender and Fractionated (Virgin ) coconut oil in it.......it smells like summer should smell like. I use this scrub all over my skin in the shower and absolutely love the way it makes my skin feel. Not only can you see the Keratosis Pilaris is almost gone but you can feel how smooth your skin is. Young Living Stress Away is the one oil featured in all Young Living Starter Kits. If your interested in finding out about  Young Living Stress Away and all Young Living Essential oils please let me know.

Please remember I am not a doctor and all information given is just what works for me and my family.

Peace and Love,

Kim

Diffuser Love

Continuing my love of everything Young Living Essential Oils  and making my house as non-toxic as possible for me and my family has made me fall in love with the Home Diffuser.
Isn't it beautiful?? I love diffusing the oils....stinky smell? Diffuse Purification, it cleans the air. Everyone sick? Diffuse Thieves.

I currently have 2 Diffusers and I HATE moving them so in my quest to rid my house of toxins I am getting rid of theses bad boys.
And replacing them with Diffusers. I figure it cost $5.00 to refill one of these and it might last 30 days. So with 3 that's $15.00 ( plus batteries they each take 2 ). After 5 months not only have I paid for the diffuser ( did I mention it comes with 2 free oils Peppermint and citrus ?? ) but I'm making my home and family healthier.

Please remember I'm just a mom doing whats best for my family not a doctor and these are just my opinions.

Peace and Love,

Kim
