Cleaning our new home Chemically free

With Moving into a new house next week we want to start cleaning the right way with no unnecessary chemicals in the house. Young Living had their Thieves Household Cleaner on sale for 10% off the last days of March so I took advantage of that. The thing with cleaning with essential oils is you don't want them in plastic bottles once you mix them up. I think these  Glass Spray Bottles will be perfect for my Thieves Household Cleaner.

My "Thieveffer" Mop

Every night after dinner the 2 oldest children clean the floors in the Kitchen and the Breakfast Nook where we eat. For years now that has consisted of Swiffer wet pads being used every night, at least 3 but sometimes more. When I started on my Young Living Journey one of my first Essential Reward purchases was the Thieves Household Cleaner. I used it for general cleaning around the house and when we traveled, I can mop my whole house with one capful. One night it finally dawned on me how much money we were wasting on Swiffer's when one capful of Thieves cleaned the whole house.

But I was not ready for my kids to be getting out the big mop and bucket every night to clean just 2 rooms just yet. I saved a container that the Swiffer wet refills come in and I added 1/2 a capful of Thieves Household Cleaner to half of the container filled with water. After mixing it around I grabbed all the rags around the house that were 10x10 or bigger and added them to the container.

After a month of the switch I can honestly say I'm glad I made the switch. The floor gets just as clean as it did with the 3 Swiffer wet sheets we use to use every night, thieves smells like gingerbread so my house smells yummy and we are not throwing money in the trash can every night. I would purchase the Swiffer pads at our Wholesale store at a cost of $15.47 for 60, so .26 cents for each sheet. My kids used 3 sheets every night for the 2 rooms, so one night was costing us .78 cents and when  we were done those went in the trashcan to go clog up our landfill. Thieves Household Cleaner cost me $22.00 Wholesale, so approx .64 cents a capful, its concentrated so a little goes along way. I only use 1/2 a capful so lets say .32 cents for one of my swiffer containers filled halfway with water, I usually add 12 rags to the container, sometimes more. So 12 rags of my cleaner ( 3 rags used each night for 4 nights )  cost me .32 cents, the floors get cleaned and nothing gets thrown in the trash ( I put them in our normal wash ) compared to $3.12 for the 4 nights of Swiffer wet pads that get thrown in the trash when we are done.

Think about it this way, old way cost us $23.40 a month and the new way cost us $2.40 a month. I think I'll stick with the Thieves Household Cleaner.

I Got Balls..........

Dryer balls that is .....LOL.
Continuing my quest to make my home as healthy as possible I purchased some dryer balls. You put the 3 dryer balls in the dryer with your clothes and turn it on just like normal. Dryer balls soften clothes naturally, reduces drying time by 25%, helps eliminate wrinkles, reduce static cling and saves energy. Best of all,  you can put Young Living Essential oils on the balls and your laundry will smell how you want it to.

I am so excited to get rid of dryer sheets, not only am I saving money but I'm helping the environment...win win.

You can make your own dryer balls ( tutorials are on YouTube ), Etsy has tons of sellers of homemade dryer balls and of course Amazon. I purchased mine from Norwex and they are guaranteed  for 1000 loads.

Do you have some Balls? Let me know what your favorite essential oils are to add to them. Don't forget we are still doing the $20 Voucher Giveaway .

Full Disclosure Notice: My Sister in law, Jennifer sells Norwex and the link is her site. I paid full price for my Dryer Balls and I would not feature Norwex's product if I did not believe it was a good product. I received no compensation from either one and all opinions are my own.

Peace and Love,

Kim

September Essential Rewards Order

It has been a hard week.....I ran out of my Young Living Ningxia Red . My ER order was delayed because of a shortage of one of this months promotion's, but as you can see it was worth the wait.

1) My Ningxia, I'm going to start giving a dose to each kiddo in the morning before school...with that nasty respiratory virus going around you can't be to careful. I take a dose first thing in the morning and one about 3pm when I start to feel that afternoon slump.

2) Thieves Fresh Essence Plus Mouthwash: Again for kiddo's ...they need that extra step in the morning for a clean and healthy mouth. This is our first time trying this so I'll let you know how we like it.

3) Elemi Essential Oil: This is called the poor man's Frankincense ( Frankincense was out of stock ) so I'll be using this in my castor oil at night.

4) Oregano Essential Oil: I'm putting this with my favorite oil Thieves, viruses don't stand a chance.  Great Article on dealing with this new Nasty Virus.

5) LemonGrass Essential Oil: Did you know LemonGrass can kill MRSA??? Great article Here

6) Peppermint Essential Oil : I was out.....I love to diffuse it, especially when the kids are doing homework...it makes them alert. I also need it for my LLP ( Lemon, Lavender, and peppermint ) capsules for my allergies.

7) Lemon Essential Oil : Between the LLP capsules, I also drop just Lemon essential oil in a veggie capsule to have first thing with my water in the morning.

8) Breathe Again Roll on essential oil : Sinus congestion....I love using my Eucalyptus to open up my sinuses but its not always convenient. Breathe Again contains  4 kinds of Eucalyptus....I'm excited to give this one a try.

9) Lemon Essential oil sample packs (10) : I love giving these out to people, I run out very quickly.

10) My Freebies : )

     1) 10 count sample of each, Lavender and Thieves.
     2) 5ml bottle of Peppermint essential oil ( this was suppose to be a 10 count sample box of Peppermint but Young Living was running short and did not want to hold up people's ER orders, they truly do have the best Customer Service ).
3)5ml bottle of  Raven essential oil: this has been on my wish list for a while and I got it FREE ....gotta love Young Living. Raven is good for congestion, great for making a homemade Vaporub.

Please remember I am not a Doctor nor do I pretend to be one, I am just a mother trying to do what's best for her family and hoping some of my experiences help you.

Don't forget if your interested in signing up for Young Living, I would love to have you join my team.

If you order the PSK from me you get a copy of The Essential Oils Pocket reference guide and 2 "goodies" from Kim ( varies from Thieves pocket spray, diffuser necklaces or bracelets, deluxe samples, etc ). I would love to have you join Me .

Bladder Infection

Thursday night was fun....6 year old complained she had "to go" all the time. Of course this was right before bedtime. After searching Oil Testimonials for UTI's and Bladder infections I took some info from quite a few testimonials.

First I took Purification and applied a drop on her belly at the bladder and then I applied a wet cloth to drive the oil in.

Next was Thieves on her big toes and over her bladder after I removed the wet cloth. This combo helped her sleep thru the night.

In the morning before school I followed the Purification and Thieves over the bladder with having her drink 1 oz of Ningxia Red and water ( lots of good pure water ). Happy to report no more symptoms. I have been doing the Purification and Thieves on her belly at night just to make sure its all gone. I also reminded her even though we are in school we still have to drink lots of water.

Please remember I am not a doctor, I'm just a mother trying to help her family live a healthy ( chemical-free ) life. I encourage you to research Young Living Essential Oils , I did when I was desperate to help my child after 2 rounds of antibiotics did not help her. I am so I glad I did, I have learned so much and never felt better.

July 2014 Essential Rewards

I love getting my ER order every month, its like Christmas.

First Up Ningxia Red:

If your not aware of Young Living's Ningxia Red , its wonderful. I drink 1 oz AM after my water and 1oz in the PM when I need a pick me up. I keep mine in the fridge because I like everything chilled but you don't have to.

Next is Thieves Household Cleaner:

I'm planning on making some household cleaners and this is easier for me then using my bottle of Young Living Thieves Essential Oil .

USB Diffuser in Pink:

We are planning some trips and I wanted to be able to diffuse my oils. You are also able to use this in your vehicle

AromaEase :

Remember that trip I just mentioned, its to a Amusement park and I get motion sickness very easily. Young Living Essential Oil AromaEase was just released and it is to help with motion sickness and nausea. This will definitely be going with us.

Progessence Plus:

Is a Harmonizing serum designed for women. It contains Frankincense,Bergamont, and peppermint oils along with some Wild Yam and Vit E. I'm 41 years old and I'm hoping this helps with my hormones : )

Sage:

Young Living Essential Oil Sage   is normally used in skin care, oral hygiene and women's natural cycles. It is also known to reduce sweating so I am using it in my Homemade Deodorant .

And because I spent over 190PV this month I received 2 free oils:

Ylang Ylang:

Ylang Ylang is used to relax the mind and help control feelings of negativity and anger.....and it smells great.

Bergamot:

Bergamot's light citrusy scent is perfect for using in products your making for the men in your life. It also uplifts the mood and builds confidence. I'm using it on a dark spot on my face, I'll let you know how that goes.

Sun Burn (uh oh's )

5 year old has soccer camp this week during the morning and with the rushing out the door ( because we are running late as usual ) I forgot sunscreen.
Ouch

Poor little bug got a sun burn.

After coming home I mixed up coconut oil and Young Living Carrot Seed Oil in a spray bottle and put it in my car......No more Mommy Brain. Young Living Carrot Seed Oil has a SPF between 38-40 and Coconut oil has a SPF of 2-8. I also added some Young Living Purification to cover the smell of the Carrot Seed oil. Adding the Young Living Purification Oil also helps it repel bugs.

Please Remember I'm not a doctor and this is what I do for me and my Family. Curious about Young Living Essential Oils ? Feel free to comment or connect with me on my Facebook or Twitter pages.

Disney Red Rash AKA Golfer’s Vasculitis

We went to Disney in May and low and behold I got the "Red Rash" again all over my ankles. I have always attributed it to the endless walking you do in the heat at Disney. When we returned this time I decided to Google the term Disney red leg rash and came up with tons of sites.....we should have our own club...LOL.

It seems the "rash" is actually a form of sun burn caused by the sun reflecting off the black asphalt. People who wear socks or long pants or have sun screened their legs up don't suffer as much. One image and another image of what it looks like ...of course mine is worse. We are headed to Universal Studios near the end of the month so with my love of everything Young Living Essential Oils I'm hoping to avoid it ( if not I'll get a good picture for the blog ).

First I'm going to use Sherri's Bug Repellant/Sun Screen ( I make the spray one ) and if I do happen to get the rash I hope to stop it dead in its tracks with some Healing Young Living Essential Oil's Lavender.

Remember I'm not a doctor, I just do whats best for me and my family and hope it helps you along the way.

Peace and Love,

Kim

Keratosis Pilaris AKA Chicken Skin

Ah Yes, the dreaded chicken skin ....if you are lucky enough to not have it you know someone who does. My lovely KP has been with been as long as I can remember ....... my upper arms and thighs. I did everything and anything to get rid of it ...exfoliated, acids, lotions, scrubs, etc....nothing worked. Lately to keep it under control I have been using this.......
at a cost of $47.00. This container would usually last about 2 months and it was ok but did not completely get rid of the Chicken Skin. I was thrilled to see Sherri get asked about Keratosis Pilaris on her Facebook page  and she sent us to Stuff Parents Need .....Awesome.

I did not follow the recipe exactly....I just eyeballed everything. I like mine a little more "drier" so I use more sugar and less coconut oil. I also used Young Living Stress Away instead of Lavender. Young Living Stress Away has Copaiba, Lime, Cedarwood, Vanilla, Ocotea, Lavender and Fractionated (Virgin ) coconut oil in it.......it smells like summer should smell like. I use this scrub all over my skin in the shower and absolutely love the way it makes my skin feel. Not only can you see the Keratosis Pilaris is almost gone but you can feel how smooth your skin is. Young Living Stress Away is the one oil featured in all Young Living Starter Kits. If your interested in finding out about  Young Living Stress Away and all Young Living Essential oils please let me know.

Please remember I am not a doctor and all information given is just what works for me and my family.

Peace and Love,

Kim

Diffuser Love

Continuing my love of everything Young Living Essential Oils  and making my house as non-toxic as possible for me and my family has made me fall in love with the Home Diffuser.
Isn't it beautiful?? I love diffusing the oils....stinky smell? Diffuse Purification, it cleans the air. Everyone sick? Diffuse Thieves.

I currently have 2 Diffusers and I HATE moving them so in my quest to rid my house of toxins I am getting rid of theses bad boys.
And replacing them with Diffusers. I figure it cost $5.00 to refill one of these and it might last 30 days. So with 3 that's $15.00 ( plus batteries they each take 2 ). After 5 months not only have I paid for the diffuser ( did I mention it comes with 2 free oils Peppermint and citrus ?? ) but I'm making my home and family healthier.

Please remember I'm just a mom doing whats best for my family not a doctor and these are just my opinions.

Peace and Love,

Kim

Homemade Deodorant

At the beginning of the month I finally went to the doctor for my left side pain that was causing me numbness. The pain was under the armpit but radiated into the breast and sometimes up into the collarbone and had been making my left arm fall asleep when I was sleeping and was now causing it to fall asleep while I was driving. After exam I had blood work, EKG and of course a Mammogram ( my first.....how fun are they?????? ) Still waiting on answers for the pain but it got me thinking about my breasts and cancer.

I'm just like the millions of other women who everyday ( sometimes twice a day ) put on deodorant/antiperspirant, but what exactly am I putting that close to not only my breast but my lymph nodes ? So with my new found love of any and everything Young Living Oils  I looked for deodorants made with Natural ingredients. There all all kinds out there but I'm kinda impatient and wanted to try to make one NOW ! I saw a liquid one on Thrive Style's Facebook page that was simple and I had most supplies needed on hand.

I added Witch Hazel to a 1 oz Glass spray container, added 10 drops of Purification and 10 drops of Joy, and last but not least 1/2 teas of baking soda.

Purification is considered a good disinfectant and purifier. It contains Citronella, Lemongrass, Lavandin, Rosemary, Tea Tree and myrtle

Joy has Geranium in it which is said to help with sweating ( I really need that ). It also contains Rose, Bergamot, Mandarin, Ylang Ylang, Lemon, Jasmine, Palmarosa, Chamomile Roman, and Rosewood. It smells Heavenly : )

Adding all that to the bottle, I gave it a few shakes and sprayed......its smells wonderful ( skipped my perfume ) and dried quickly. I did sit in a 90+ degree car today for a hour at Tennis lessons and noticed no odor or sweating.

I am hoping to get in my ER order next month Sage and Geranium, both are said to help control the sweating ( I am a sweater so I need all the help I can get ). I am not a patient person and had to make this today so Joy it was and it seems to work.

My nine year old started using Secret about 3 months ago ( click and see what is said about Secret ) and I really hope this homemade deodorant works for me so I can put her on it. If not I'll start experimenting again for different one, there are way to many chemicals and unknowns in commercially bought deodorant for  me to trust it on her pre Puberty body.

Remember I'm not a doctor and this is just what  works for me and my family : )

Peace and Love,

Kim
